Tasmanian oak, otherwise known as Australian oak, refers to the hardwood produced by three trees: Eucalyptus regnans, Eucalyptus obliqua or Eucalyptus delegatensis, when it’s sourced Tasmania.
The wood of Eucalyptus regnans and Eucalyptus delegatensis is called Victorian Ash when it’s sourced from Victoria. The hardwood timber is light-coloured, and can range from straw to a light reddish-brown in colour with intermediate shades of cream to pink. The timber has straight, open and even grains with a texture that is open, uniform and fairly coarse.
